Final thoughts on how to boost your MBA application

With a program in mind and the basic steps towards completing your application, it’s now time to consider other factors that may help boost your application.

  1. Networking: One of the best ways to understand a MBA program and at the same time, elevate your application is to network. What I mean by that is attending events hosted by the school and also reaching out to the program’s current students and alumni. Besides hearing first hand experiences of the program and advice on how to apply, many programs’ events will be hosted by admissions officers who have their eye out for those interested in the program. What this means is the very people reading your application have the chance to get to know you in person – putting a face to the otherwise faceless application. As long as you come off polished and passionate about the program, this is only an added bonus.

  2. Rounds: For most MBA programs there are 3 rounds (some may have two). For your best chance and if you’re ready to do so, I always advise you to apply for Round 1, especially for particularly competitive programs such as any M7 schools. Typically, chances are better as there are more spots reserved and less to compare against. This also gives you time to apply for your back up MBA programs during Round 2. With that being said, applying for Round 2 is not a bad option, especially if you feel like you’re not ready for Round 1. Most importantly, have an application that’s ready. Unless you feel like you really need to, I usually advise against applying for Round 3

Now that you’re equipped with all of the information needed to apply for your MBA, I wish you the very best in your endeavors. Many people choose to apply on their own but undoubtedly it helps to have a seasoned MBA graduate or professional provide advice and keep you on track to perform your best.
