My Story

Why and how did I become a Coach?

Hi I'm Lauren Wong (any pronouns).

California-born, raised, and educated. Chinese/Hong Kong American. LGBTQ+. Neurodivergent. Proud UC Berkeley alum (’13) and UCLA Anderson Fully Employed MBA grad (’21). Former Fortune 500 entertainment professional and Emmy Award winner. Dog mom, avid traveler, and as my friends say — “the happiest real-life energizer bunny.” But I wasn’t always this way.

For years, I chased every “achievement” society said would make me happy — a steady job, a serious relationship, a top MBA program, and a jam-packed social calendar. On paper, life was perfect. Inside, I was miserable. Family and financial trauma shaped me to believe I was broken — never good enough, never doing enough. I stayed constantly busy to avoid being alone with these thoughts. Sure, I was checking off goals and surrounded by people, but I never stopped to ask: Are these even the right goals? Am I living for myself — or for what I thought others wanted me to be?

Rockbottom

With the help of some incredible friends, I chose a different path.

I quit the game. I started meditating, journaling, and moderating my drinking. I spent time outdoors, discovering how nature could heal. I embraced hobbies that grounded me — and reconnected with people who truly cared. Slowly, I unpacked years of unprocessed pain, reflected deeply, and learned to truly love myself — not just for my achievements, but for my resilience, kindness, and ability to connect. I realized: My natural energy, my deep empathy, my ability to organize and achieve — these could be used to help others thrive, not just myself.

Everything came crashing down in 2020. After losing my grandfather and further family issues, I numbed myself with distractions — heavy drinking, escaping into mobile games (spending thousands of dollars), and mindless busyness. Then the pandemic hit. My nine-year relationship ended. My boss said I was falling short. I felt detached from school, friends, and life. I was alone — physically and emotionally — and completely burned out. That was my breaking point. I couldn’t distract myself anymore. I had to face the truth: I wasn’t okay. Something needed to change.

The Turning Point

A New Purpose

In 2021, I took a life-changing solo trip to Taiwan. It was the first time I lived these new values — positivity, gratitude, purpose — fully and out loud. I discovered how naturally I could inspire and energize people just by being myself.

For the first time, I saw my life’s purpose clearly: To help others reach their goals, find fulfillment, and create joyful, intentional lives. This is what feeds my soul. This is what I’m meant to do.

In 2022, I launched my coaching practice and earned my ICF certification and after 3 years of being a digital nomad, I've based myself in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I'm pursuing my hobbies and working on my memoir while coaching clients across the world in three pillars I’ve mastered through my own life experience:

No matter which area I guide you in, the goal is the same: to use my energy, organization, lived experience, and hard-won wisdom to help you design a life that feels joyful, fulfilling, and fully yours.

I’m not perfect — I still face anxiety, setbacks, family challenges. But I’ve built tools, habits, and values that keep me grounded, purposeful, and resilient. And as your coach, I’ll bring that same steady, energetic presence to support you, no matter where you are physically or mentally. I offer comprehensive support to clients from all walks of life, having worked with individuals across the USA, Asia, and Latin America, each bringing their own unique backgrounds, goals, and stories. I believe you can set the right goals — not just “check the boxes” — and build a life that feels deeply meaningful. I’m here to help you do exactly that.
